Learn to Play Chess With Colorful Cartoon Pieces
Junior Chess is an educational board game where children can learn the rules of chess while playing against the computer. The game uses colorful cartoon-style chess pieces, simple controls, and helpful instructions that make learning easier for beginners.
You can choose the red or blue team before starting a match.
Your goal is to protect your king while trying to trap the computer’s king in a position called checkmate.
Junior Chess follows the familiar rules of chess, but its friendly pictures and move suggestions help new players understand what to do.
Choose Your Team and Difficulty Level
Junior Chess offers three difficulty settings: Easy, Medium, and Hard.
Easy gives beginners a chance to learn the movement of different pieces and practice simple moves.
Medium provides a greater challenge once you understand the basic rules.
Hard requires more careful planning because the computer becomes a tougher opponent.
You can also choose whether to play as the red or blue team. Red moves first.
Before starting, open the Rules section to learn how the pieces move.
Learn How Each Chess Piece Moves
Every player begins with 16 chess pieces.
These include one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns.
Each type of piece moves in a different way.
The pawn usually moves one square forward but captures pieces diagonally.
The rook travels horizontally or vertically.
The bishop moves diagonally across the board.
The knight jumps in an L-shaped pattern. It can jump over other pieces.
The queen moves horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
The king normally moves one square in any direction.
Learning these movements is the first step toward becoming a better chess player.
Use the Helpful Move Suggestions
One useful feature in Junior Chess is the way the game highlights possible moves.
Click a chess piece to see where it can move.
The available squares become highlighted, helping you avoid selecting an illegal position.
You can also use the Hint button when you need help choosing your next move.
The captured pieces appear inside small cages near the board.
These features help beginners follow the match without needing to remember every rule immediately.

Protect Your King and Try to Win
